Welcome to the Austrian ERA portal!
The Austrian online platform for the European Research Area (ERA) is a promotion initiative aiming at providing comprehensive information on the implementation of the ERA. The concept of a European Research Area means a European "internal market" for research, where researchers, technology and knowledge circulate freely. It also comprises the idea of effective European-level coordination of national and regional research activities, programmes and policies, as well as initiatives implemented and funded at European level. The concept was launched in the year 2000 and endorsed at the Lisbon European Council in the same year. Era.gv.at focuses on the political background of ERA-related activities and covers three main levels of research policy: European, Austrian and joint EU/Member States research policy. The portal mainly addresses stakeholders who are working in the context of ERA initiatives and scientists interested in research policy. An animated diagram illustrates the structure of ERA.
