GPC Meeting on 10 November 2009

In its meeting on 10 November, GPC identified and substantiated the first wave of themes for Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs) in the areas of

1. "Agriculture, food security and climate change",
2. "Health, food and prevention of diet-related diseases", and
3. "Cultural heritage, climate change and security".

The Council of the EU is now invited to adopt these JPIs in due time.

The group agreed to examine the JPI proposal "Water Challenges" in a second wave of JPIs (in 2010). The JPI proposals on "Livinig with Climate Change" and "FoCIT - Future of Cities/ Transport", which were presented at the previous GPC meeting (15 October 2009), will also be examined within the "second wave" mentioned above.

In addition, GPC agreed to elaborate continuously on framework conditions for JPIs.

The Spanish delegation informed the group that 3 meetings of GPC are planned during the Spanish presidency in the first half of 2010.
