Austrian Council for Research and Technology Development
In the year 2000, the Austrian Council for Research and Technology Development was established as a strategic advisory body to the federal government on all issues of research, technology and innovation policy. It is the Austrian Council’s task, in close dialogue with the key political players, to provide a strategic orientation for research, technology and innovation policy in Austria, to identify emerging thematic areas of research, and to propose appropriate assistance for them. These priorities are also reflected in the Austrian Council’s Recommendations for use of the special funds from the technology initiatives.
Its Recommendations have contributed to the incorporation of existing programmes in a coherent research strategy, which in turn is advanced by other initiatives recommended by the Austrian Council, in its Strategy 2010.
In August 2009 the Council presented its Strategy 2020 providing suggestions and recommendations for a future development of the Austrian RTI System.
