Since 1995, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Economy, Family and Youth supports the improvement of cooperative research organisations through successive specific support programmes.

The target of prokis04 is the enhancement of the competences, the innovation processes and the structure of these institutions, in order to offer optimised services to Austrian companies, especially to SMEs.

Funding is available for projects designed to improve

• the organisation and infrastructure (process management)
• the human capital, including the intellectual capital, and
• co-operations with other R&D organisations, in order to enlarge the range of services offered to SMEs.

Prokis04 has a duration of six years. The programme started in January 2004 and will expire at the end of 2009. The first call was launched at the beginning of 2004, the second in autumn 2006. Funding is provided for a period of three years.

prokis04 is a programme of the Federal Ministry for Economy, Family and Youth (BMWFJ) and is managed by the FFG.
