A New Partnership for the Modernisation of Universities: The EU Forum for University-Business Dialogue

In connection with the Modernisation Agenda for Universities, the European Commission has launched the University-Business Forum as a European platform for dialogue between higher education and enterprises. The forum started its work in February 2008 and supports cooperation between these two communities. Universities should "become significant players in the economy, able to respond better and faster to the demands of the market and to develop partnerships which harness scientific and technological knowledge".

The Communication "A New Partnership for the Modernisation of Universities: The EU Forum for University Business Dialogue" takes stock of what has been learned from the first year of the Forum and other relevant activities at European level concerning the challenges and barriers to university-business cooperation, the issues to be addressed, and good practice and approaches which could be more widely used.
