Strategic Energy Technology Plan
Developing clean, efficient and low-carbon energy technologies is essential to face energy and environmental challenges. As part of a package of measures setting out a European energy policy, the Commission has presented a strategic plan to accelerate the development and deployment of cost-effective low carbon technologies (SET-Plan)in 2007.
The SET-Plan brings together the major European research institutes and universities (The European Energy Research Alliance), European industry, and the EU Member States (The Steering Group on Strategic Energy Technologies), coordinated by the the European Commission. The actions will be based on reliable information about the technology and capacity (The Strategic Energy Technologies Information System - SETIS).
