Developing a Common Strategy for Key Enabling Technologies in the EU

With this Communication, the European Commission has launched a process to develop a shared vision and a strong partnership of Member States, the Commission, enterprises and stakeholders on the importance of "key enabling technologies". It also proposes a set of measures to improve the related framework conditions.
The following most strategically relevant technologies are pointed out:
- Nanotechnology
- Micro- and nanoelectronics, including semiconductors
- Photonics
- Advanced materials
- Biotechnology.
