EIC receives 413 proposals for EIC Transition call
The Commission’s European Innovation Council (EIC) received 413 proposals for the 18 September 2024 deadline of EIC Transition calls. This is the highest number of proposals ever submitted for a Transition call. EIC Transition projects focus on results generated by EIC Pathfinder, FET (Future and Emerging Technologies) or European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept projects, to mature the technologies and build a business case for specific applications. Grants of up to €2.5 million are available to validate and demonstrate technology in application-relevant environment and develop market readiness.
In terms of project participants, these proposals come from 39 countries, with the highest number coming from Spain, Italy and Germany. More than half of applicants (51%) come from the private sector, followed by universities (33%), and research organisations (15%). All together, they are requesting a budget of €991 million.
The EIC Transition Open call has no predefined thematic priorities and is open to proposals in any field of science, technology or application.
Applicants will be informed about the result of the evaluation within 9 weeks after the deadline. Successful proposals will be invited for an interview that will take place in December 2024. Successful project will start in April/May 2025. Next deadline for sending proposals will be announced in the EIC work programme 2025.
