ERC presents new guide on trusted repositories
The European Research Council (ERC) has presented a new study that provides a list of trusted repositories across different fields of research, with an assessment of their readiness to facilitate compliance with the Horizon Europe requirements. This new guide on trusted repositories was published on 28 November 2024.
The ERC points out that navigating the Open Science requirements under the Horizon Europe Model Grant Agreement (MGA) can be challenging for researchers. Therefore, to support EU-funded researchers, including ERC grantees, in meeting their Open Science obligations, this new study has been published with the support of the ERC.
The study provides recommendations on selecting suitable repositories for depositing research outputs. This inventory is not a whitelist or an endorsement. It rather is intended as a resource for researchers, research institutions, and repository managers to assess which repositories are suitable for their needs and can facilitate compliance with the MGA requirements. The aim is to promote Open Science, fostering collaboration among researchers across Europe and beyond. The study updates a previously published one and is based on a new methodology, presenting a new classification.
The Austrian Social Science Data Archive (AUSSDA) is one of two repositories meeting all criteria for "readiness of research data and literature repositories to facilitate compliance with the Open Science Horizon Europe MGA requirements", an updated ERC study shows.
AUSSDA is a data infrastructure for the social science community in Austria and offers a variety of research support services, primarily data archiving and help with data re-use.
