"Europatagung" in Vienna focuses on kick-off of OECD Review of Austrian R&I system
The "Europatagung" 2017 (annual Europe conference of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy), which took place on 17 October 2017 in Vienna, was dedicated to the OECD Review of the Austrian research and innovation eco-system. Around 300 participants used the presence of the OECD Review Team, whose members come from the US, the UK and Norway and from the OECD in Paris, as an opportunity to communicate their points of view and their concerns. Both the ERA Council and the Austrian Council for Research and Technology Development confirmed the importance of the review as a first step on the way towards a new RTI strategy of the Austrian Federal Government. It was in this spirit that Federal Minister Harald Mahrer, at the end of the "Europatagung", highlighted excellence, impact and openness as key concepts for developing future STI strategies, both at national and at EU level.
