EC publishes flash call info for Competitive Low-Carbon Energy calls
On 13 November 2017, the European Commission (EC), DG Research and Innovation published two documents containing flash call information for the recent Competitive Low Carbon Energy calls under the "Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy" work programme of the Societal Challenges pillar of Horizon 2020.
The call for the topic "Joint Actions to foster innovative energy solutions in renewable energy technologies" closed on 7 September 2017. A total of 6 proposals were submitted for this topic, of which only one was above threshold, requesting a budget of around € 7.4 million. The total budget available for this call is € 26 million. It is expected that the first grant agreements will be signed by 7 May 2018.
The second stage call under the same work programm closed on 22 August 2017. Topic 06 "New Knowledge and Technologies" received 14 proposals, of which 8 were above threshold, requesting a total budget of € 32.1 million (the total budget available is € 20 million). A total of 35 proposals were submitted to topic 07 "Developing the Next Generation Technologies of Renewable Electricity and Heating/Cooling", of which 23 were above threshold, requesting a total budget of € 105.4 million (the total budget available is € 64.5 million). Topic 31 "Social Sciences and Humanities Support for the Energy Union" received a total of 6 proposals, of which 3 were above threshold. They requested a total budget of € 10.4 million (the available budget is € 10 million).
The EC recently informed the applicants about the evaluation results for their proposals and expects the grant agreements to be signed by 24 April 2018 at the latest.
