Sweden presents opinion on FP9
Sweden has recently presented its "Opinions in view of the discussion of the next EU Framework Programme for Research". In the paper, the Swedish Government calls for a modern EU budget with re-prioritisations that benefit common measures, such as security, migration, competitiveness, research and climate change adaptation. This should be achieved through significantly reduced appropriations for agricultural support and structural funds. For the programme in general, Sweden supports continuity to Horizon 2020 and wishes to go one step further in addressing societal challenges, creating impact in society and added value for citizens. Besides other important issues, the paper highlights the need to facilitate the participation of third countries, and to raise the attractiveness of the framework programme for this group. Sweden also highlights the issue of gender equality. According to the paper, gender mainstreaming should become a strategy and should be integrated into all parts of the programme.
