First group of innovators to receive funding under the EIC pilot

A jury of innovators, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists has selected the first group of innovators to receive funding from the recently launched European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot. In total, 57 small and medium-sized companies have been selected and are now to receive €94.25 million to scale- up their projects. Projects selected in this first round have high potential for creating future markets, as stated by Commissioner Carlos Moedas, and cover various fields such as health, ICT and engineering. The selected projects include 3D-printing for food, multi-active cardboard packaging designed to extend the shelf life of vegetables, biodegradable bioplastic, and innovative treatment for breast cancer.
