UK White Paper on Brexit: Research is among envisaged future areas of cooperation

On 12 July 2018, the government of the United Kingdom (UK) published a White Paper on "The Future Relationship Between the United Kingdom and the European Union". The paper was presented to the UK Parliamanet by Prime Minister May and is a proposal forming the basis of the next and final phase of Brexit negotiations.
The White Paper indicates areas of which the UK Government believes that they should be included in the future relationship with the European Union, as they "are still of vital importance to the UK and the EU". These areas include, amongst others, "establishing cooperative accords for science and innovation, culture and education, development and international action, defence research and development, and space, so that the UK and the EU can continue to work together in these areas, including through EU programmes, with the UK making an appropriate financial contribution".
