Commissioner Gabriel stresses key role of R&I to tackle crisis

Science Business published an interview with Commissioner Gabriel on role of R&I to tackle crisis, the operational impact of COVID-19 on Horizon 2020, possible consequences on MSCA and other current issues.

On the question if it would be still reasonable to expect a timely launch on 1 January, the Commissioner said that at this stage, the indicative launch of Horizon Europe would be maintained. Continuity of EU research and innovation investment would be crucial to support research efforts on the ground, and to facilitate the sharing of relevant data and know-how, for the benefit of all EU citizens.

Mariya Gabriel highlights the importance of a timely deal on the Multi-annual Financial Framework. She appeals to the Member States to reach an agreement on MFF in time, while keeping the ambitious budgets for Horizon Europe and Erasmus+.
