EU and India strengthen cooperation in R&I
On 15 July 2020, the 15th summit between India and the EU was held via video conference. The EU was represented by Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. India was represented by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Leaders adopted a joint statement, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen the EU-India strategic partnership.
EU-India leaders also adopted a common roadmap, including Research & Innovation, to guide their joint action over the next five years. Both parties agreed to further widen the scale and impact of their partnership under Horizon Europe and in India's equivalent research and innovation programmes and missions, on the basis of co-investment and co-funding. Cooperation will take place in areas of mutual interest and in support of notably the EU-India dialogues on climate change & energy, in line with Mission Innovation and on resources efficiency & circular economy. Amongst other areas, the partnership will also strengthen cooperation in health and bio-economy as well as on social sciences and humanities.TOP
