Council Competitiveness (Research) 8 December 2023

The next formal meeting of Research Ministers will take place in Brussels on 8 December 2023. the

Ministers will approve conclusions on the impact of Research and Innovation in policymaking. In addition, the agenda foresees a political agreement on 'Council Recommendation on a European framework to attract and retain research, innovation and entrepreneurial talents in Europe' and a policy debate on 'Research valorisation as a tool for economic and industrial recovery and resilience'.

Under 'Any other business' the Presidency will give an update on the continuation of the Union’s participation in the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) under Horizon Europe and on events and activities during its term. The Commission will present a 18-months-review of the implementation of the ERA Policy Agenda (‘EU level Report’); Progress with research assessment reforms and actions ; Advanced materials for industrial leadership. The incoming Belgian Presidency will inform delegations on its Work programme.
