Horizon 2020 Interim Evaluation

01DESCRIPTION

The Interim Evaluation was required by Article 32 of the regulation establishing Horizon 2020. It aims to contribute to improving the implementation of Horizon 2020 in its last Work Programme 2018-2020, to provide the evidence-base for the report of the High Level Group on maximising the impact of EU Research and Innovation programmes and to inform the design of future Framework Programmes.

On 29 May 2017, the European Commission published the Interim Evaluation of Horizon 2020. Against the background of the White Paper on the Future of Europe, the conference "Research and Innovation - Shaping our Future", organised in Brussels on 3 July 2017, policy makers and stakeholders met to discuss the role of research and innovation for Europe's future. Pascal Lamy, chair of the High Level Group on maximising the impact of EU R&I programmes presented the vision and recommendations of the group on the basis of the results of the Interim Evaluation.

On 11 January 2018, the Commission adopted a Communication on the interim evaluation of Horizon 2020, which outlines its views on how the impact of a successor research and innovation investment programme could be maximised.
