Competitiveness Policy

02INTRODUCTION

Sustainable prosperity and competitiveness are one of the seven key priorities for the European Commission under its President Ursula von der Leyen for the period of 2024-2029. A first outline of a possible competitiveness strategy for Europe was provided by Mario Draghi's report on 'The future of European competitiveness'. The importance of focusing on Europe's competitiveness was also highlighted by the Council of the EU in the 'Budapest Declaration on the New European Competitiveness Deal' (8 Nov. 2024). The Letta Report (April 2024) draws up recommendations for the future of the Single Market.
