EOSC Federation is set up at EOSC Symposium in Brussels
At the EOSC Symposium 2025 in Brussels, the start of the EOSC Federation was celebrated. This is an important step in making the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) a reality. EOSC wants to make it easier for researchers all over Europe to work together and share data.
Thirteen research groups and organisations, called "nodes," showed how they can connect and work together. These nodes include major research institutions like CERN and EMBL, as well as several ESFRI Landmarks and ERICs, and essential national research data initiatives. They are now linked with the main EOSC EU Node, which is managed by the European Commission.
Each node will give special services and data to help build a strong network across Europe. This network will help researchers get better, high-quality data, work together with people in other countries, and do research in different subjects. The EOSC Federation will also help bring more artificial intelligence (AI) into science.
A big moment at the Symposium was the signing of an agreement by these first 13 nodes. This shows their promise to work together and build the Federation. The event also announced that more groups will soon be able to join in the future.
