Marie Curie Alumni Association publishes first Policy Forum report
The Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) has published a report on its first Policy Forum, held in December 2025. The event took place at the European Parliament in Brussels. It gathered leaders from the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, and the research community. Held under the patronage of MEP Christian Ehler, the forum focused on the strategic role of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) at a decisive moment for Europe’s future Research and Innovation Framework Programme (FP10).
MCAA Chair Gian Maria Greco opened the event by underlining the MSCA’s systemic impact over three decades, stressing the need to recognise researchers as key stakeholders in R&I policymaking. He presented the new MCAA report, “Impact of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Driving knowledge, innovation and EU competitiveness,” as a basis for evidence-informed dialogue with policymakers.
MCAA Executive Director Mostafa Moonir Shawrav highlighted the report’s conclusion that Europe’s competitiveness hinges on the talent it cultivates, attracts, and retains, and called for a stronger, protected MSCA budget in FP10.
In his keynote, MEP Ehler reaffirmed the Parliament’s strong support for the MSCA, calling it a global hallmark of European research and a unique source of excellence, mobility, and international attractiveness that must be preserved and reinforced in the next Framework Programme.
